Is Lorenby House a real independent business?

Very much so. Hi, I’m Suzie, the real human behind Lorenby House. I design the artwork, build the collections, run the website and generally wear all the hats from my little corner of Northern Ireland.

There’s no mysterious design algorithm churning out thousands of products here. Lorenby House grew from my love of design and a simple idea: to create useful pieces for everyday life carrying little reminders we could all use from time to time.

Do you design the products yourself?

Yes. The artwork and collections you see at Lorenby House are created and curated by me. Each collection begins with an idea that means something to me, whether that's Turn Sunward, Hold Steady, Belong or True Self, and grows into illustrations and products designed around that message.

Where are your products made?

Lorenby House is an independent design studio rather than a factory, so I work with carefully selected production partners to manufacture and print my designs.

Some products are made and printed in different locations depending on the item and where you live. You'll find the relevant material, sourcing and production information on individual product pages, so you know what you're buying.

Are your products print-on-demand?

Many of the Lorenby House pieces are. Rather than ordering huge quantities of stock and hoping they find homes, they're produced especially for you when you order.

It can mean your order takes a little longer to arrive, but it helps avoid unnecessary overproduction and allows me to offer more of my designs without filling a warehouse, or more realistically, my house, with boxes.

What about Totezee?

Totezee is where all of this began. I originally designed it because I couldn't find a bag that worked for the slightly chaotic reality of my own life.

Unlike the made-to-order collections, Totezee was designed and developed as a physical product, with its structured rectangular shape, deep zipped pockets, removable organiser and coordinating extra bag. I still have the original stock, so Totezee orders are fulfilled from existing inventory.

Will my order arrive in one parcel?

Not necessarily. Because different Lorenby House products may be made by different specialist production partners, items from the same order can occasionally arrive separately.

Don't panic if a notebook arrives without its tote companion. It may simply be taking the scenic route.

How long will my order take?

Made-to-order pieces need a little time to be produced before they're dispatched. Production and delivery times vary depending on the product and destination, and estimated timings will be shown during the ordering process where available.

Once your piece has been made and sent, you'll receive the relevant shipping information.

Why don't you keep everything in stock?

Because Lorenby House is small, deliberately so. Making many pieces to order means I can concentrate on creating designs rather than buying mountains of inventory, and it helps reduce unnecessary overproduction.

It also means I'm able to grow Lorenby House gradually and thoughtfully rather than trying to pretend I'm a giant retailer. I'm not. It's me, Suzie. Hello. 👋

Are the colours exactly as they appear on my screen?

I do my best to represent colours as accurately as possible, but screens have minds of their own. Colours can vary slightly depending on your monitor, phone settings and the material being printed, so there may be small differences between what you see online and the finished piece.

Can I return something?

I want you to be happy with what arrives. Because some Lorenby House products are made especially to order, return arrangements can vary depending on the item and circumstances.

What if my order arrives damaged or there's a problem?

Please get in touch and include your order details and photographs of the problem where possible. I'll look into it and help get things sorted.

And yes, you'll be contacting an actual person. Probably me with a cup of coffee nearby.

Can I send something as a gift?

Absolutely. Lorenby House was built around little reminders, so sending one to somebody else feels particularly fitting. Cards, notebooks, prints and totes all make thoughtful gifts when you want to say something without making an enormous song and dance about it.
